Lahore – The Punjab School Education Department has issued new school hours for the coming holy month of Ramadan to be applied across all schools of the province.
Based on the government’s official declaration, schools would remain open between 8:30 am and 1:00 pm Monday to Thursday. The lessons will close half an hour earlier on Fridays, at 12:30 pm. In case schools operate in two shifts, the morning shift would operate between 8:30 am and 12:00 pm, and then the afternoon shift between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
The alert further included that the girls would be permitted to exit school 15 minutes earlier than the fixed closing time on each day.

At the same time, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will sit in Peshawar on February 28 (Friday) to observe the Ramadan crescent moon. In case the moon is sighted, the fasting will start from March 1 (Saturday). But the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) foresees the month of fasting would probably start on March 2, a prediction shared by the Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco).
Ramadan timings in Pakistan usually follow traditional dependence on the government moon sighting, which sometimes creates minor discrepancies in the starting date throughout the country.
