Google Launches ‘Google Wallet’ in Pakistan to Boost Digital Payments

Google has launched its electronic payment service, Google Wallet, in Pakistan. The new service will make online banking and electronic payments simpler, secure, and more convenient for people throughout the country.

As per Express News, Google’s Country Director for Pakistan, Farhan Qureshi, revealed that Google Wallet will enable users to store bank cards, boarding passes, loyalty cards, and other valuable items securely in one location. Individuals with Visa or Mastercard-associated bank accounts can now add their cards to Google Wallet directly.

Qureshi labeled this launch as a “major milestone” for Pakistan’s journey towards digital banking expansion. He further stated, “Google Wallet is one part of our strategy to encourage digital payments in Pakistan. It provides consumers with an easier and more secure way to pay for items, shop, or even make travel easier.”

He emphasized that Pakistan’s digital payment industry is expanding at a fast pace, with increasing individuals opting for online payments. Google Wallet, he added, offers a secure, simple way to fulfill this need.

The step is likely to persuade more Pakistanis away from cash transactions and to opt for digital payments, allowing them to accomplish routine chores faster and without any hassle.
