128 More Moons Found Around the Solar System’s Second-Largest Planet – What’s the Total Count?

Scientists just found 128 new moons around Saturn, making it the moon king of our solar system! The ringed planet’s total moon count has jumped to 274 – that’s more than all other planets combined.

Until now, Jupiter held the title for the most moons (95). But Saturn’s new discovery leaves it in the dust. Researchers had already found 62 new moons around Saturn in recent years and suspected even more were hiding. After digging through data since 2023, they hit the jackpot with 128 more. One scientist joked, “Jupiter can’t catch up now!”

The International Astronomical Union has officially approved these moons. Next step? Naming them all!
