Advanced AI Robot Introduced for Household Chores

A Norwegian robotics firm, 1X, has launched Neo Gamma, a human-like, two-legged robot driven by artificial intelligence that can perform several home chores, such as laundry, cleaning windows, and vacuuming.

While robots such as STAR1 (the fastest bipedal robot in the world) and SE01 (responsible for green cleaning) have dominated the news recently, there has been some void left in robots specifically for household daily chores. That is about to change with Neo Gamma. The humanoid robot can perform simple tasks such as cleaning, sorting, and even making tea.

To make Neo Gamma “more human-friendly,” the company teamed up with Japan’s Shima Seiki (a fashion manufacturer) to produce a warm, smooth-over outfit that would dress the robot’s metallic frame. Besides looking more friendly, the suit also protects surfaces from scratches when it works on household chores.

Experts believe robots such as Neo Gamma may soon become ubiquitous assistants in the home, taking the drudgery out of daily chores. “It’s not about technology – it’s about simplifying life,” a 1X spokesperson said.
